After a brief stop at Clayworth Shooting Supplies near Retford my brother and I decided to stop at a nearby shooting ground called Pinewood outside of Blyton.
It was an extremely warm day with no clouds in sight and my brother had just purchased his first gun so we went to test it out. Pinewood is located on a farm yard and boasts 9 stands with 4 traps at each stand and has plenty to offer in the way of variety!
Although I have so far been used to regimental 50 Sporting with a score card at Hazel Bank, it was nice to go round with my brother and just have fun breaking clays without keeping count. Pinewood offers shooting across open fields, into woodland, over the tree tops and across a lake which really adds to the interest having such variety of backdrops.
It was also very quiet for a Saturday afternoon so wepretty much had the place to ourselves. With the number of stands it was also a nice walk and a good opportunity for some fresh air.
It has to be said that trap equipment wasn’t the tidiest I have seen, but we didn’t have a problem with no birds and the set up was great fun with such a variety of targets.
They are open Wednesday to Friday 10am – 6pm and Saturday 10am – 5pm. www.pinewoodsg.co.uk
